Vinoteca lies in the heart of Soho, selling wines from all over the world. It is a great place to go for either wine and cheese, or a nice big lunch or dinner.
On weekdays they offer lunch and pre-theatre set menu at a great value, 2 courses at £12.95 and 3 courses at £15.95. And of course, an a la carte menu is available at all times, often alternating depending on the season.
What I loved about this restaurant is that if you are a wine lover, for each dish they suggest the perfect wine to complement it.
We went for the Biferno Rosso, it was a nice and light wine – perfect for lunchtime.
For main course, we chose the Gnocchi, Marjoram & Madeira; Hereford Beef Lasagna, Green Leaves and Dodington; and the Char-Grilled Scottish Bavette Steak, Watercress, Chips & Horseradish.
Gnocchi, Marjoram & Madeira
I was very impressed with the Gnocchi, as it was well cooked through and the sauce complemented it very well, as there was not too little sauce and not too much.
The portion size was also just right, there’s nothing worse than having a massive portion of something in front of you and struggling to get through it – this tends to be the case with most pasta dishes.
As for the lasagne, it had a delicious flavour although when it was served it was not hot enough, which was very disappointing as that’s the easiest and most important thing to get right.

The steak was absolutely delicious, and it seemed to be the most popular dish in the restaurant as most people were ordering it.
The chips were chunky but soft inside and crispy on the outside. The meat was soft, juicy, and perfectly medium rare. It was also well complemented by the horseradish on the side, which was a nice touch.

Like I always say, no matter what there is always room for dessert!
So, we ordered the Panna Cotta with blueberries and a selection of ice creams.
The Panna Cotta was smooth and creamy, just like it should be – with a refreshing berry sauce (you can’t really go wrong there).

The ice cream selection consisted of three different flavours – chocolate, vanilla and salted caramel. It was really refreshing after the big meal and was full of flavour.

After all of that food and wine, how could you not be smiling?!
Overall, I really enjoyed the atmosphere in Vinoteca. It is a place where you can sit for a couple of hours as you do not feel rushed off the table. There’s also a meal option for everyone as their menu is quite diverse.
If you love wine and great food, I would definitely put this on your to-do list!
