After an endless day of shopping on Oxford Street, we decided to take a break at Forest on The Roof, an open air terrace restaurant on the top floor of Selfriges. Forest is buzzing with afternoon tea-goers and shoppers in search of delicious and fresh food with a limited but ever-changing menu.

For starters we ordered new potatoes with melted cheese and truffle honey, asparagus with hollandaise sauce topped with egg yolk. We also had grilled goats cheese drizzled with honey, served alongside green peas and radish. All three dishes were delicious and packed with fresh and creative ingredients, in addition to being presented beautifully.

For my main, I opted for the mushroom risotto. It was creamy and packed with a variety of fresh and flavourful wild mushrooms. The portion was huge, yet not too heavy, and as always there was room for desert.

Not to mention the champagne was flowing …

And last but not least, the deserts! We went for the Eton Mess, which was light and delicious, blending the crunchiness of the meringue with the smoothness of the cream. The fresh strawberries were the perfect compliment.

But of course we didn’t end there … Banoffee cheesecake with flambéed bananas, caramel drizzle and chocolate flakes. It was the highlight of the desserts!

After all the delicious food and drink, I was quite content as you can tell…

I highly recommend this place, there is always a great atmosphere and you can definitely spend the whole afternoon there!
